SPRAY PAINT

Post by CaptFrank »

:?:

What is the difference between Krylon and Testor's model paint?

Is Krylon really that bad for models?

Is Model Master a finer grade of paint?
(Are the particles of pigment ground finer to allow a smoother finish?)

You can use Krylon just fine. I actually like the Walmart brand spray paint (less than $1 a can). Best thing about Testors is the color selection is usually geared more for models. But for black, white, grey, red, yellow etc, the Walmart brand works just fine.

Thanks, Phil.

I'm building a Millenium Falcon to be a gift for my nephew.

I plan on painting it flat white, then adding a little weathering.
I figure I'll need a gallon of paint, due to the size of the Ertl kit.
Using a can of Krylon will work better than those little model
paints. I would run out before one side was done!

I like Krylon flat white primer. It's fairly thick and if sprayed on in several light coats it will fill all those annoying sanding scratches. Also, it's solvent seems to be a little "hot", so it will stick really well to plastic. White also makes a nice undercoat for light colors.
