I don't know wha it's called, but the top, clamp portion of the unit looks a lot like a Monster Mount. There used to mount Bose-type speakers to the wall.
www.monstercable.com might be a place to look around.

Nothing there as tall as the Panavise unit flyfort17 mentioned.
The Monster Mounts I have say they will support up to 8 lbs. I turned them into mini sculpting stands.

Hey Scott!
It is a Panavise, but not the micro unit. What you want is here:
http://www.panavise.com/f/cctv/cctv_bits.html
Use the Model 850 knuckle, with the telescope shaft (6" to 11" ) model 856T, then use the tri-foot base model 860.
Works like a dream---I'm using it on my Rel Sovy and it's just awesome. I also bought one off of Amazon that I didn't have to piece together for like $27 I think.
Just type in Panavise in the search box @ Amazon and see what you get. Sometimes they're sold out.

Thanks all. So this would be the item:
http://www.amazon.com/Panavise-883T-Dua ... 427&sr=8-9
...and to mount the model to it you would..........

Exactly---it also gives you the option of using the wingscrew, and then substituting the allen screw for a more finished look.scottgirvan wrote:Thanks all. So this would be the item:

And like Terry said. You could also pick up a 1/4"x20 threaded insert in the fastener section at Home Depot too.

Aw George - you sent him to the hardware store? I've found a larger Ace or True Value has a better selection of fittings and bolts, though.
There's no substitute for the proper bit of hardware - which you can embed in epoxy putty for stability.

Actually, there's a great True Value in Hartville, but it's about 45 miles from me.TER-OR wrote:Aw George - you sent him to the hardware store? I've found a larger Ace or True Value has a better selection of fittings and bolts, though.

If I ever have time to build my V3 SS X-Wing, I too plan to mount it on a panavise stand. But could someone explain a little more about how one goes about embedding the female connector (if I can find one) inside the model using the epoxy putty? Are there any builders of the kit who've done this who could advise in detail? This is one heavy kit.
