Krylon Spray Paints

These are relatively cheap at Walmart and I was wondering if they can be used on model kits. Will they melt the plastic? Will they even stick on the plastic? Thanks for your help.

I've used them to prime, and the white is the only white I've found to do a good job.

I've used them for years on plastic and resin kits.

They work fine, although I've found that flat back is the 'hottest' of the bunch, it can craze plastic.

You have to have a light touch when spraying, the nozzles are designed to spray large surfaces, so the output is a bit high.

I love them. They're smooth as glass.

Just_shake_them_up and don't spray from too far away.

I paint with these when I need a lot of paint,and I don't have a lot of money for it. These cover great,and are easy enough to use,but the yellow is the worst! Stay away from it as much as possible! This dries tacky,and it doesn't cover very well!

Newbie Doobie (love your name BTW), I have used Krylon paints on just about all of my models. You really do need to watch how you use them though. Ken is right, the output is a bit high, so what I do is, use wide swipes from about 1 1/2 - 2 ft away, and short bursts from about a foot. This way also makes it very easy to do slight color variations when masking. One more thing to point out, stay away from the 99cent brands, I've had some really bad experiences using cheap spray paint, so pay the price for the Krylon. On this one, I sprayed the colors, then masked of the entire saucer, and used the grid lines to cut random bits out, then I lightly dusted from about 2 1/2-3ft away just to give it a suttle difference.

I've had to learn how to use Krylon paints out of nesessity, as the closest hobby shop is a hours drive away. If you take your time, you can produce great results.

Thank you! I apprecitate that! I use these,but only the basic colours,red,blue,green,white,black,and sometimes flat clearcoat for models. I usually spray very light coats about a foot,and half away for darker colours,and a foot away for light colours. This is to make sure that I don't cover more than is neccessary for good coverage,so that I don't get runs,or orange peel.
