Flush mount rivet tool

Several months ago, maybe even longer than that, someone posted a tool they had made for making flush rivets in styrene and resin. I believe it was fashioned out of a tube, nail, or maybe even a crocheting needle. You twist it on a flat surface and it removed material, leaving the impression of a counter-sunk rivet behind.

Anyone have any idea where that post went, or if it's gone, who posted it?

Jeweler's beading tool is what I use. No better, or easier way to make rivets. I also use a pounce wheel when doing lots of them on wings and hulls.

Mike, that's exactly it. Thanks. Those flush rivets are perfect for the 1/96th scale Civil War ironclad I'm working on.

Erin, what is this beading tool of which you speak?

The same thing Mike linked to, only ready made and hardened for metals, and come in different sizes. Do a google or ebay search for beading tools and they should pop up.

heya - while i still prefer my tool (not biased, just prefer the thicker groove around the rivet), you can grab a cheap beading tool from ebay. here's what i bought:

my 2 cents
get the one erin/dasphule linked to

i picked up the set futch showcases on his set..
found that the set of 0-11 was too small (may be able to use it later) ..but sent it back and got the set 0-23 ...(larger number = larger circle) PERFECT. (the group was "geiswien" or something like that...googled and came up empty handed)
(oh..and if you buy the set...make sure it comes with the case/holder....my first set didn't, and would be hell to keep up with all the parts).
