Decals or Airbrush your own??

Post by Duker »

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to determine what's the preferred method - whether I should use the factory decals or try and try again to create them by airbrushing them. For example, on the X-Wing, I've tapped off and painted the Red-5 markings - looks decent, and it'll be simple enough to scruff it up for battle damage.

I'll won't be entering any contest or anything, but I'm just curious to see what the consensus is.

BTW - Great Forum! Great Info, Great People - really glad I found it

For me it depends on the complexity. If it has a lot of curves, mixed colors and detail...and I have the appropriate decals, then decals it is. But like the X-wing with its straight lines, I would use paint.

Depends how good you are masking and airbrushing vs decaling. Do whichever you feel will give you the best result.
