Which drillbit size to use for holes with LG64-25 cable?

Post by muir318 »

Hello guys

I have ordered a bunch of LG64-25 fiber optic cable to put onto my republic star destroyer and i have also ordered a tamiya handy drill kit!

What is the best size of drill bit to use to make the holes for this cable and will they fit on the tamiya drill or do i need something else to make them fit the drill?

Also is it best to drill the holes on the side walls before cementing them to the main hull or drill while they are installed?

thanks in advance for all answers

I just looked this up on google, so there's no magic to this.

Seeing as the cable is 64 filiaments of .25mm diameter each, I'd say a drill that is slightly over .25mm in diameter shdl do the trick nicely. 0.25mm is about 10 thou (0.010") so a .3mm drill or a #80 (0.0135") drill should do the job.
