Dry Rub Decals... I just stumbled acrossed these pretty puppies while working on my Speeder Bike. http://gerry1of1.wordpress.com/star-wars/speeder-bike/ . I loved these things so much thought I'd pass on the idea.

They are marketed for PineCar racers. Remember those? Block of wood you whittled into a semi-car shape and raced down tracks. I'd forgotten those things existed!

But the decals are AWESOME!
You don't have to trim to the edge. Give yourself plenty of room to hold it
Place it where you want.
Rub it with a popsicle stick... not too hard just firm.
DONE

no water
no drying time
no micro-set or micro-sol
no thicker than air brushed paint. virtually no edge at all
they took clear and gloss coats very well.

Limitation is they only come in typical car styles such as flames, numbers or Sponsors like Penzoil or Champion spark plugs.

Still, it's an easy option.
