Fiber Optics Virgin

Post by Gerry »

My first time adding lights and no way I can just go easy on myself.

I would like to add flashing runway lights to the landing bay of the Polar Lights 1/350 Refit. I saw it in a video and was very empressed.

My question is "What do I do now" :?:
Very literally know nothing about this and havent' found any kit that would do it.

sources to buy fiber optics or the little lightbulbthingie they light from?
what kind of circuit board do I need for "leader lights" ?
sources to buy the circuit board for that matter.
any recomendations for a good teaching Book for lighting?

For simplicity's sake, I suggest this

Run two fiber optic cables off each LED.

CHASER!

See! I can learn. Now I know the "technical" name for the light thingies. :D

Thanks for the info. that helps. Still miles to go of course. Room for it in there is an issue so I'm thinking of just running the wires to the base which has ample space.

and of course tieing it into the power. but one step at a time.

THANKS for that. It was very helpful.

Hate to say it, but a through knowledge of electronics requires a stepped approach, like this site.

I'm not saying you have to have it, but knowing this stuff makes it a whole lot easier applying it to a project.

If you can be happy with 6 lights, you could go with the 6-LED Chase Light Simulator here:

These boards are super tiny and will fit almost anywhere. I have one of them, but have yet to try it. It'll go in my Big-E as well as my Reliant shuttlebay.

Thanks for all the assistance :)

Some I'll use... some I'll use on later builds.

I've settled into the idea of just the lights, not chasers. 2 reasons.
One: Space and working the board in and
Two: I just got yelled at for how much I've already spent on this. LOL
