Drybrushing help!

Post by modeler1964 »

I attempted my first try at drybrushing the other day using a Tamiya Titanium Silver straight from the bottle. I found that the paint dried very quickly and was hard for me to get the hang of it. Should I have added a retarder or thinned it first?

I've found Tamiya paints aren't great for drybrushing. Try some Polyscale or other brand.

You could also try with Model Masters silver. When drybrushing with silver I tend to use an enamel. I find they drybrush better than acrylics.

The other thing I use is metallic printers inks. these are basically pigments and they need to be used with a carrier. I use then with either humbrol clear or linseed oil.

Cheers,
