Sanding Mr. Resin Primer Surfacer

Post by DeltaVee »

Some questions:
1. Does it sand like resin? Like plastic? Like paint?
2. Best grit to start with for just smoothing some lumps/high spots?
3. Best to wet sand?
4. Should I continue to sand down finer or just apply a thinned coat of surfacer and let it smooth itself?
Thanks for the help.

It's always best to wet sand, Mr. Resin Surfacer is no exception. But because it is self leveling, you can usually start with a lighter grade of paper. Depends, of course, on how rough the surface was before priming. I just put some Mr. Resin Surfacer on some parts that had a bit of pebbly texture, due to the caster using too much mold release when he poured the rubber over his masters. The primer really knocked down the texture, making the parts much easier to sand smooth.
I speak of the pompatous of plastic.
