Tools: Punches

Post by Devin »

I have the Waldron set of small punches; the sub-minature ones to be precise. A great set that works wonderfully. I need something to do larger punches, though, up to 3/8th of an inch. I picked up this and this. Neither of them really cuts it, pardon the pun. Thin or thick sheet styrene I get distortion on both the disk and the plastic sheet.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I think I need to bite the bullet and invest in a really high quality set, like a larger version of the Waldron , but I'm not sure what to look for. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Devin

Check out the Hand Punches at your local craft store. I have a great pair of Fiskars 1/16 & 1/4 inch circle. And I picked up some cheap 1/2 inch circle at Michaels. Just don't try to punch through really thick stuff with the cheapos I've already broke one pair.

This would probably work for model applications

Dude! Those are perfect! (well, assuming they work like the Waldron set they look like, that is). Thanks.

I'll also check out some Fiskars when I get a chance.

Thanks guys.
