Paint Complete or Pieces

I know this has probably been asked a dozen times, but I couldn't find it in the search feature.

What is the general concensus on painting. Build the model and paint or paint pieces before assembly. I just got the PL Enterprise 1/350 and want to do it right and as accurate as possible.

It really depends on the model and how you perfer to work. Some models lend themselves to building in sub-sections, others you have no choice but to build up entirely and spend a lot of time masking.

Something as large asl the PL Refit NEEDS to be painted in pieces just to make it easier to handle, The same goes for decal placement.

Yea, pretty much what I thought with this one. It is so big, it needs to be done in sections. Thanks for the input.
