How to paint vinyl tires?

Post by Cenebar »

I heard paint doesn't stick to vinyl tires (such as the ones used on the Batman Tumbler).

Should I prime the tires first?

Someone suggested I just dust them with pastels and leave them unpainted.

Should I use acrylic or enamels?

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

Seems to me people paint vinyl figure kits all the time, I don't but lots do, there are a number of reviews of vinyl figures here. They may be helpful.
Stand back, I don't know how big this thing gets.

Try light sanding it first, prime, then color. it won't matter if you use enamel or acrylic. worked for me. but i personally use acrylics. :) Good luck

Fill the tire with plaster or something so that it is solid and won't flex when it takes the weight of the model. It doesn't matter how much you prime it, the paint will flake off if you flex the rubber.
