a trick I discovered

Post by Digger1 »

I melted a piece of sprue at the end and pressed it against the back of a part that I wanted to paint that I couldn't hold onto while painting.

When done and dry, just snap it off.

Send that one to FSM for the $25.

Nice tip. I usually just use some Blu-Tack but it does get a bit wobbly.

Awesome idea, Mike! Seriously, Terry's right. Email FSM and you just might get a check.

Uhhhhh...hate to burst your bubble, but that's been around before. :( .One trick to remember is to not to melt the sprue way too hot.It may cause a bump on the other side. Believe me, I know. Sorry...

nice trick, one I do for very small parts is a bit of sticky tack on the end of a toothpick.

I like this tip. Also, sometimes I like melting sprue just for fun.

I've seen the same trick printed in FSM more than once. Heck, I've seen my tip from others - and I may not have been original....

I just put tape on the backside of it when I need to paint a small item.

I use a stick with a blob of "blue tack" on top to hold small parts.

Ah the joys of Bluetac. It's also great for kitbashing, holding parts together so you can get a feel for how they'd look.

Blue tack is good for doing soft edge camo, too. Roll it into worms, place along where you want the edge to be, cover the middle parts with paper or tape, spray. Works great. Just did it myself a few weeks back.

Yeah, blue tack is great stuff. I bought about a dozen packs of it and now have a baseball sized chunk of it I use. Definitely one of those tools everyone should have.
