Got a question about techniques, materials or other aspects of physically building a model? This is the place to ask.

How to- soldering brass rod

Post by davehal9000 »

I'm working on a helicopter model that's made of an unacceptably brittle plastic. My concern is that after scratchbuilding a complete interior the skids won't stand up to the weight.

My tentative plan is to solder new ones of brass rod. The rod is roughly 3mm diameter. Would this be done the same way as we do copper pipe in plumbing, using solder, flux and the like?
Warned you we did, but listen you did not! Now screwed we all will be!

Thanks for the link. I'll have to get these rods bent and give it a try.
