Lighting question

Post by sci-fi-bldr »

I'm going to try lighting a Finemolds Slave I....this is my first try at it..

Think I've got a plan for the cockpit area.....hope so anyway

But any good ideas for the engine lighting??.....I'd like to use LEDs....but what is a good way to defuse the light to 'spred' it around nicely in the engine nozzles??

You could sand down some of the epoxy at the tip of the LED, I think that helps spread the light out better. You could also buy some of these 360 degree LEDs from superbrightleds.com. I got a few to put into some starship engines and they really do cast light in all directions.

I would suggest also trying a layer of clear dull coat. If not sanded evenly (which I tried) you will see it when lit. I used dull coat sprayed into a cup and then brushed it on the LEDs for my War Machine. It gives the lense a frosted look which diffuses the light. It worked great.
