That's been done, 1961, Russian dude in Antarctica, self-appendectomy. And the thing has relevance to the spaceflight topic of this forum.
Rogozov was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labour which honoured great deeds and services to the Soviet state and society. Appendectomies are now compulsory for Antarctic explorers from several countries such as Australia. And some in the medical profession have suggested the procedure should be given to any future astronauts leaving the Earth to form a colony on Mars or the Moon.
Looking back at his father's legacy, Vladislav believes it is one of inspiration. "If you find yourself in a seemingly desperate situation when all the odds are against you. Even if you are in the middle of the most hostile environment, do not give up. Believe in yourself and fight, fight for life."

That 'All' brings to mind things such as,
I have 3-4 web boards that I frequent in addition to SM. And some boards WAY larger (+20K users) than this one. Same conditions. Same wonky response times and occasional outages. And the one commonality is active thriving userbases and high signal-to-noise ratios. (the bots don't go for forums with small numbers or inactive discussion)
It's worse on reddit, where bots are masking as users. Any post with a redditor karma of less than 100 I discard.

Just tried logging onto HT and got a page which said hmmmm, can't reach this page, or something to that effect. Been getting this the past couple of days over there.
HT usually works fine for me, except when it decides to go to the first forums instead of the hobby section for no reason and makes me scroll.
The main problem there is lack of activity.
The unknown is only unknown until you know it. Ya know?
If any of you guys are going to Wonderfest and run into John or one of the moderators would you let them know about the problems with the forums?? I would except I'm staying home.

Good idea. If they're ill or having problems then fair enough but it would be nice to know as they seemed to have disappeared from here.
