Don't know if you've seen this or not, but it's a great tool for us starting out with the electronics and it's free. Take a look and let me know what you think, not mine I just found it on the net, owner's is the one who posted it.

Very handy little item for the neophytes

Old timers like me (and probably Don and John) have the bloody color codes memorized

I used a sort of color wheel sold by Radio Shack
Sooooo obsolete. Resisters codes has changed a lot up to 5 bands and 6!
I rely now on a few java apps seen around the internets.
Google gets it to me.

My first electronics hobby kit, a AM/FM/HAM radio...:old:
it had vacume tubes!
