adhesives for working with photoetched parts

Post by Darthsideous »

I'm working on a car model right now and am wondering what is the best adhesive for photetched parts. I read an article where the author used elmers white glue. I'm not sure if this is the best adhesive to use. In another article another author said using crazy glue discolors the photoetched part. I am using detail master seat belts so I don't want them discolored. Any recommendations for adhesives?

I 'glue' my photo-etch hood pins, window clips and emblems with Future (now called Pledge) floor shine. Never harms or mars the paint or etch. If the etch is under any stress then I have to use epoxy. Good luck!

Thanks Davevan, I'll give that a try!

High-quality CA (cyanoacrylate aka superglue) is a standard, but it can be messy if you're not careful.

Thanks Ter-or I just bought some glue from my local hobbyshop. Previously I always used "superglue".

For small parts I find myself using Tamiya clear acrylic more and more. Not as thin as Future, it's a bit more "sticky" but still dries crystal clear.

I've used Gator Glue for the few photoetch parts I've stuck on, and thought it worked very well:

Thanks Guys, I think I'll try either the future floor wax or the Tamiya clear method.
