Tenax as resin adhesive?

Got a question about techniques, materials or other aspects of physically building a model? This is the place to ask.

Tenax as resin adhesive?

Post by Space Garbageman »

Ever use Tenax 7R as a bonding agent for cast resin parts? I was welding styrene parts to a styrene surface and using a part cast from Smooth Cast 300 as a temporary reference. The resin was taped in place and some Tenax got under it, and now it seems pretty well bonded in place. I usually use CA for resin parts, but if Tenax works as well it could make things easier. Any thoughts?

Nope

The Tenax softened the styrene and it stuck to the resin, it was more of a "sticky" bond than an actual welded bond, it would be a matter of time before the resin part fell off.

As I suspected. Thanks for the confirmation, Ken!
