Does the progression of the model entered have to be
started on SSM from the beginning?
Also how do you register?
Thanks, |

You can't show the model here in any area before turning it in to the contest. The first time any one sees it is when John post it the contest area. Do not put your name in or on the photos or discription, as this allows people to vote freely for what ever they want.
You can read about what it cost to register by going here http://www.starshipmodeler.net/talk/viewtopic.php?t=75872
When the details are worked out you can register here, but John hasn't got it ready yet www.starshipmodeler.com/contest/contest.htm _________________ It's like the blind, leading the naked around here.

When with this be officially kicked off?
And when is the offical deadline?

This was posted on the 1st of August, that should give you a target to work towards, at least (01 Feb 2010). _________________ "The purpose of all War is Peace" - St. Augustine

Hi
This is the first SSM contest I plan to enter. I know it;s probably a noob question, but I'm currently finishing a couple of builds, and was wondering if one can submit more than one entry to the contest ?
---- EDIT ----
Ups... I just read the Contest Entry Fees thread and that pretty much explained my question Argh.. Mondays... Now where's that coffee ?

Well, I'm really late...I mean, I am late in building my model for SciFiModel Mecha Contest, for Cubic X Contest and for StarShipModeller too, so...too many holidays...maybe...eh,eh...
but soon after the completion of GROG Trophy which is the most important tournament here in Italy for Horror, Sci- Fi and Fantasy miniatures ( much better than Golden Demon which is limited only to GW miniatures...) that is held this week in the surroundings ( well, never won anything there, the level is really too high for my standards- as you can find there such wonderful competitors as BALLONI from PegasoModels, and so on...-, but just to pay a visit and make some good photos, of course...eh,eh...) I'll be back on work on all of them...eh,eh... _________________ "So much with WWII panzer tanks...we are tired of seeing so many of them at model shows!"

Is it a scale model even in 1/1 scale of another table? _________________ It's like the blind, leading the naked around here.

I've started building something for this contest, and look forward to entering. Question: has anyone been successful at bonding 2-part epoxy to vitamin (HDPE) bottles? _________________ "Everyone has their illusions, far be it from me to take away yours." - Mok, in the film "Rock 'n Rule" |

Don't see why it wouldn't work. Perhaps a coat of primer first, or scuffing it up abit with fine steel wool. _________________ (insert quality witicism here)

Scuffing up the surface or even sanding it with 120 grit or coarser sand paper will be your best bet.
Unfortunately priming it will only make things worse since the primer will not stick very well (Unless you are back to plan the above method) and it will really just form a barrier between the bottles and the item you are gluing to it. Gluing stuff to any kind of paint is really not a good idea. _________________ "In the universe, space travel may be the normal birth pangs of an otherwise dying race. A test. Like they said, scruff it up and if you don't need it for the inside as well, you can poke some holes through it to give your epoxy an anchor.

All the pieces have been coated with primer...that's the first thing done..."a small step for a common modeller, but a big step for a lazy modeller like me...especially during those Christmas/New Year's Day holidays"..well...eh,eh... _________________ "So much with WWII panzer tanks...we are tired of seeing so many of them at model shows!"

This contest is just what I needed. The theme reminds me of the saying, "the perfect is the enemy of the good."
I have embarked on my first scratchbuild, and have been able to walk away from some of the perfectionism that has tripped me up in the past. As a result, I am enjoying my hobby more than I have in a long time, if ever.
I am grateful to John, et al. _________________ "Everyone has their illusions, far be it from me to take away yours." - Mok, in the film "Rock 'n Rule" |

Guess I better get it in gear if I wanna enter something, then.
This means that, for the first time in over a year, I'm gonna build something other than a 1:2500 scale Star Trek ship (maybe . . . .)! _________________ Visit the new Sci Fi Model Kit Directory at SFMKD.com!
