Raytheon Effect, anyone write a how to article?

Post by whopper »

I've never done this effect before. I've read about it only from informal posts on the board, but being that I don't want to screw up a good model, anyone write an article that covers how to do it correctly?

Ian (Raytheon's real name) got a letter from a lawyer representing "Raytheon Company" which is a defense contractor

Basically, they said he can't use the name "Raytheon" anymore

He's still mulling over if he'll re-open under a new name

Oh, always amazing how people or companies take a name and then the word comes up somewhere else in a totally unrelated matter and they sue like they own parts of the english language.

Like Spike Lee sueing Spike TV like he owns the word Spike.

Does Ian have an account hear?

That sucks.
Just out of spite, I am now going to shop elsewhere for my defence equipment.

In Raytheon's (the company) defense, the word was invented by them (or modified by them) and properly protected.

I recall the same thing happened when Resin Illuminati started up. The "preferred" title was something that was too close to Skunkworks, and the domain name was shut down within days...
It happens with tightly controlled copyright...

The mastermodelreview is going to let Raytheon pass because of the microwave ovens thing, but recognition of any exclusive rights to the word "skunkworks" will be permanently withheld.

That is all.

Ok Raytheon wins this round then, but I still say Spike Lee is an idiot.

Just as a heads up

Ian (Raytheon) has returned to the web under his own name

All the info previously available at Raytheonmodels.com is now at http://www.ianlawrencemodels.com/

Same old stuff, including how to do the 'Raytheon Effect"
