Klingon Torpedo effect

Post by Trekmanscott »

I would like to when I build my Quonos One to have an effect in the bulb that makes it look like the model is firing torpedos.

So I would like an LED to power up slowly. Then flash brightly and go out. The biggest issue I have is I have no idea how to do this. So does anyone hav any suggestions on how this can be done? And (better question) can you explain it to me so I can put it together?

I was just going to spring for the VoodooFX torp launcher. It seems to do exactly what you described.

I could do it with my rig... just a few lines of code in a table. But then Randy would be mad at me for stealing his idea.

John, There's nothing wrong with selling a competing product. Randy does things differently than you do and his products are very good but that doesn't mean you can't sell a rig of your own design that does something similar. I say do it.

I was kidding around to see if I could get a bit of a rise from VFX over there.

I'm already competing directly with him on the Falcon lighting kit, and its one of my best sellers. I'm just wondering how mad he is with me already, in a fun kinda way.

Don't forget a sound chip to make the distinctive *Funk-pooof* noise.

You forgot because I dont make one.... sounds like I should though.

Anybody know of a good cheap field programmable sound chip? My little micro only has 4 or 8K of data space, probably not enuf for a sound FX.

Well I went and done it now.

Here's my prototype Klingon Photon Torpedo Effect, sold to our good friend Scott.

I have ideas on how to enhance the product, like adding engine lights and some other goodies too.

Anyone who has suggestions or ideas, I'm interested.

Thanks!

Was this accomplished conventionally or through programming a pic?

It's a programmed effect, uses the same Delux Flasher card that all my other special effects use.
