is battery corrosion reversible?

Post by LobsterOverlord »

Hi all,

I had left the batteries inside an r/c item when I put it in storage a while back and of course, pulled it out and there was corrosion all over the springs. Obviously, I know the batteries are junk, but can the item itself be cleaned up any? and if so, with what?

Thanks,

I'd try a weak acid - vinegar is your best bet

If you can, disassemble the item as much as possible and use Q-Tips soaked in the vinegar

Then a weak solution of baking soda in water to neutralize the acid

Pat dry, then re-assemble

First hit it with a baking soda solution to neutralize what acid is there. Then use one of these to clean off the corrosion.
