Fun Project: Underworld UV clip...ideas?

Post by bob242 »

I like Underworld..sue me. :P

I found these images at a prop site of the film used lighted clip:

It seems simple enough. A desert eagle clip with cut casings and blue resin(?) bullets. LEDs in where the primer was and it should work.

Any ideas on how to approach this 1:1 replica?

Not off the top of my head.
But, I love Underworld, too (and Underworld II. ;)).
Kickass babe with guns!!! :guns:

Ooo. Here's an idea. After removing the powder and primer from the bullets, make the firing pin area of the casing removable. Unscrewable or just a simple pop-off (with some slight effort of course). That way you can go in and change the small watch/hearing aid battery in each round.

Otherwise, put the electronics in the base of the clip and run the LEDs in series up the back of the clip into each of the bullets. That way you only need one AA or AAA battery hidden in a area of the base of the clip that could be relatively easily changed.

Those are just off the top of my head.
Hope it helps.
Keep it up. I wanna see more while you're doing it/done. :)

I liked under world as well. Either each bullet has its on battery setup or they are wired to a pack in the base of the clip.

The tips look almost like the LEDs where molded with that type of tip, might be able to find them on some of the LED manufacturer's websites.

Chicago Lamp is one
I think another it omni
Lumenx

Search on digikey's website for LEDs and they usually link to the manufacture's website. Once you know what LED is preshaped you can special order them or find a place that has them in stock.
