Switching from AAA to AA batteries

Post by Kylwell »

So great gurus of electrons, I have a device (lamp) that run on 3 AAA batteries. Due to it's short life I'd like to swap the battery box out for on using 3 AA batteries. Is there anything I need to do other than swap out the box? My remembrance of electronics theory is, well, dim.

Nope, voltage is the same, so there is nothing else to do.

Ant is correct. Bigger batteries just last longer because they have more reactants in them.

If you change battery TYPE then the voltage will change.

For example: if you change from Alkaline to NiCD (and it was 15 years ago) then the total voltage of the battery stack would be reduced slightly.

But, its now and all the modern AAA cells have the same voltage as the AA cells, regardless of chemistry.

Anyone want to try an IRON battery?

Go with C or D cells! You'll have plenty of life then. :-)

I'd have to make extreme alterations to the case for that.
