What to do with a fiber bundle

Post by anvil242 »

I have run fiber for lights in my Battlestar Galactica model. I now have 70 pieces sticking out the back of the "Gator Head" forward hull. I have them all in a metal tube that the 5mm LED fits into, but there's not a lot of room in the main hull. What's the best way to cut them to a uniform length? This is my first attempt at fiber so apologies if this is a dumb question.

Anvil,
Are you asking how to cut the fibers in the tube to the same length or the other ends? A razor saw should work for the tube or you could keep them all flush in the tube and have the remaining stick out the other end. I use fingernail clippers to cut the ends sticking out of the model for a nice flush finish.

Another option are these neat sprue cutters: http://umm-usa.com/onlinestore/product_ ... ts_id=3749
