NX-01 Mask and Lighting

Folks, just got in a Polar Lights 1/350 NX-01 Enterprise. Does anyone have any expierence in lighting this model? It already comes pre-drilled with some pretty big holes. Also, the instructions call for masking with three different colors, but doesn't really provide the aztek pattern. Any advise on this one?
