Weathering gaming miniatures?

Post by red5angel »

Hey, I've been looking through the forum for the last few days trying to decide how I want to weather some of my MaK gaming miniatures:

I've used a dark oily black to make it look like the engine cover in the rear is scorched and burnt form fuel fumes, it looks pretty good. I'm trying to decide how to dirty it up overall. there are two specific things I'd like to do:

1) chipped paint. I'm familiar with most techniques but I need to decide what sort of base color and what's best to do on a real small mini, this ones about 2.5-3" tall.

2) I also want to make it "dirty". It's been in the grasslands and the outback of australia and I was thinking of some lighter colored pastel to hit most of it, heavier towards the legs.

any other suggestions?

I'm familiar with most of the techniques.....I don't want to use metallics for the undercoat.
