Ball joint mounting?

Post by nicholassagan »

So I've seen a number of builds that utilize a ball-jointed mounting system...

Something like THIS

or THIS
http://www.makmodeler.com/wp-content/up ... 090068.jpg
or THIS
http://www.makmodeler.com/wp-content/up ... 070812.jpg
or THIS
http://www.makmodeler.com/wp-content/up ... 080067.jpg

Any suggestions as to where to start??

You DO have a bunch of R2 AMT repops, don't you? It's the prize in the box. :D
But isn't it all Klingon opera?

Often see them marketed as CCTV mounts. Panavise makes them too.

Ah, 'ere we go.

Moff Eaton? Sounds evil if you ask me. I'd bring some Jedi for back up here.

True....I keep one on my desk for holding large parts that I'm working on for various reasons. Panavise should even be overkill for an Ani SD. All the better.
JM that is a great mount for models....nice job.
Hey Nick if you can show a pic with it mounted on that for all to see. It'll help everyone out on mounting large projects. Should look cool.

This is the 6" version on my AMT Star Destroyer. It's study as heck. I wish I could have found a more streamlined/slim one at the same length though.

Will you be attaching the base of the Panavise to wooden base? And thanks for posting the pic. You can see the thumb screws that you can open up and tilt the model for even more display effect. Great little device....very handy.

Yes, I'll be screwing it to the base. In fact, it's screwed in right now but I'd like to finish up the model before finishing the base. Eventually there will be a hole cut out for a 9V...I'm even thinking about adding a few Death Star panels or something. But that wouldn't be consistant with the ship...

Anyway. This mounts are really awesome. It seems there are plenty of variations, too.
