Good Reference Manual/Material for Starfury Docking Arm Unit

Post by Ant-Man2 »

Hello,

I'm looking for reference material, (preferably a manual) which details the particulars of the docking-arm-unit used for the Babylon 5 Starfuries.

A recent visit to Amazon.com turned up a Babylon 5 Security Manual, along with a Babylon 5 (Role Playing Game) Ship Builder's Manual.

I was wondering if anyone is familiar with either of these two books, and if so, knows whether or not there are detailed schematics of the Starfury docking unit?

In addition, I was curious if anyone knows of any other type of detailed reference material, which will be able to assist me here?

Through the years I've been able to accumulate a number of small, video snippets, which show this unit, along with a picture or two.

However, I need something more substantial, in order to attempt to build it from scratch.

Any and all assistance is Greatly Appreciated.

Thanks!

Well, the security manual isn't gonna do it. There is one grainy photo of the Cobra bay and no drawings.

Nothing useful there.

This question has been asked before, and as I recall, there is precious little reference material out there. All, (or nearly all) is from screen grabs. With this in mind, it may not be a bad thing. It leaves you open to do what you want with it. Use the pictures you have, but let your imagination fill in those huge gaps. The only people who can dispute your interpretation would be the guys who built the digital models, and I doubt they'll rat you out.

Got agree - I've got the Security Manual as well. While it is a nice enough book, the images are... underwhelming, and not of much modeling help.

A quick Google only really found this:

Hey M-B,

I appreciate your enlightenment concerning the lack of information out there.

Concerning your "go-with-the-flow" philosophy, I still would prefer to gather as much detailed information as possible, (some of which is still out there), before progressing ahead.

I like to get as accurate as possible with all of my modeling, and the friend whom I approached to work on the bay is actually more Anal-Retentive that I am. :)

What I've been able to amass, to date has been updated onto my website, (at: http://www.scififantmodmadrealm.com/B5- ... efMaterial).

If anyone has additional reference material, or knows where I can obtain some from, I'd be greatly appreciative.

Hey Joe,

Thanks!

I seem to remember seeing it.

Know anything about the Babylon 5 (Role Playing Game) Ship Builder's Manual: http://www.amazon.com/Babylon-Builders- ... 707&sr=8-1 ?

(One option I guess I may address is going through all five seasons of B5, and capturing screen prints of anything related to those docking units/arms.
