A most unepected greeblie source

Post by Scotaidh »

I was at my local "pretentious stuff for the house" store looking for my favourite scented candle that only they stock - Ginger Peach. With the candle I also bought some tea lights in the same scent.

The point? The tea lights are not clad in thin metal, but in clear plastic cup that is apparently impervious to (candle-flame-level) heat.

Once empty, the container is about 1.5" dia x 5/8th" tall.

There's a divot dead-centre on the outside of the bottom - useful for locating any holes you might want to drill.

There are four bumps 90 degrees apart around the rim.

I don't yet know how well it takes glue, or what sort of glues might be used with this, but I thought you might like to know so's you can do your own investigating.

:)

I'll keep my eyes open; those sound very interesting....

Thanks for the heads-up.

Small, circular candle; about 1 1/2 inch in diameter, and roughly 1/2 inch tall.

Hope that helps.

I found it rather interesting to see the more recent battery-powered candles to simulate the flickering flame (not just by varying the light output, but physically "wobble" the flame).

I used red 'tea lights' as proton torpedoes for our local 501st Death Star Trench Run exhibit. You can see more about that at http://amazingscifi.com/trench_run.html

I also found some that can change color by remote control, which I bought just because the innards seemed potentially useful.
