hello I felt in love with a model in the reader gallery from the yellow contest;
this one:
http://www.starshipmodeler.com/contest/ ... tch_18.htm

I have decided to build something in the same shape and color
I am afraid that it will be almost a one year project.
the length will be nearly 70cm.

The first work: a dorsal trench, based on the backside of two old HO train cars

My reaction was two-fold:

1) Great Work! Looks ... interesting, in a "Look at that! That's cool!", non-Oriental sort of way. :)

and

2) Oh, wonderful - now I've gotta buy train models in addition to ship, aircraft, tank, car, and sci-fi models. I'm gonna need a bigger ... cupboard. ;)

<grumble> My wife is gonna disown me. <grumble>

:D trains may be very small ; Nscale 1/160 and smaler Z scale 1/220

there is another tiny scale 1/500, but it is a bit far from modelism

you can build a Z layout on a pizza box. You dont need a cupboard :P

Great progress. Those hull pieces look good, and nice start on the bridge. Pieces can come from anywhere!

the price for theese cartridges is about 30$ for 100 (thx google); a bit expensive if you dont drink this coffee , and you must have the special Lavazza machine to use them.
you can have them in the us or canada

personnaly I had them in an wastebin of an office during a job meeting. (people were looking at me strangely)
:D if I find some more, I will tell it to you

some news

the bottom "wings" were carved for pannels and the base yellow paint is done (not perfect, I use only spray cans), drying before masking and black.

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l53 ... xvr6rc.jpg

I began to carve pannels ont the main "wing"
http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l53 ... dicv8s.jpg

carving is a bit boring, so I manage to glue some pannels on the hull structure (the black part with holes comes from a tv keypad.)
