New kits making their debut: surprise or nah?

Post by Stu Pidasso » Tue May 09, 2017 2:15 am

Sometimes vendors feel the need to not announce their new kits for WonderFest for various reasons. How would you, as an attendee, feel about being surprised as opposed to knowing what is coming? Please answer only if you are going to the show.
I got a sweater for Christmas last year. hope I get a screamer this year...

Yes, I like surprises but I also like to have a kit I'm really looking forward to getting.

There's nothing worse than finding out that a dealer had 10 kits of something you really wanted but sold out because you didn't go to that dealer's table first.

I don't care one way or the other. I'm a builder, not a collector dammit.

Seriously, though I don't keep up on all the goings on in garage kit land. I do have a pretty good idea of what's going in with injection molded subjects, though BUT, again, don't care if I get surprised or not. Typically what I do is look for a kit of the subject I am interested in when I am thinking about it or want to build it. If I find it, yay. If not, scratchbuilding it is.

Knowing ahead of the show makes it easier to anticipate how much money you'll be spending.

What Pat said.... Plus it also helps us know what to look for or go get right away.... especially if it's in limited quantities

It may also help people decide if they want to splurge and get the early bird admission or not...
