That's how it's been in the past Jim. You pay for the first two and the rest are free.

I should have 8 real space entries and four figures for this year.

Sorry for the delay Jim--- I'm getting my life back for the evening so I'm catching up. lol
The fee remains the same: $9 for the first two entries, and up to 8 additional entries are free.
From that point, any additional entries you would start over again. ie: $9 for the next two and 8 more free--- so on and so forth. ;)

The thing to remember here is that the more entries, the more awards that will inevitably be issued--- and the awards aren't free... :D

T-MINUS 30 DAYS FOLKS!

I'm thinking decals should be getting floated, and weathering should commence.

I've got seven . . . or eight . . . maybe nine . . . or is it ten? Heck, I won't know for sure until I get everything boxed and ready to transport down in less than 4 weeks!

As a little extra incentive to reach our goal of 800 entries. Dave Hodge has agreed to sponsor the WF Space Model challenge that previewed last year.
One award each will be awarded to the best Trek entry, Star Wars entry, and BSG entry in the room.

Judging will be performed by our chief Hardware judge and our show guests!

OK....don't mean to be a DebbieDowner here....and don't get me wrong...I LOVE the contest room...but...

On a normal year of 600+ models it can...ummmmm.....get pretty crowded in the normal room with models...and people....are there any thoughts about where the extra will go???...(people and models)....

Gonna be tight............. :paranoid: :squad: :help:

I would imagine they would use one of those little side rooms (Paisley, et. al.) like they have in years' past when there was overflow.

Even with 600+ models in the room, we had a decent amount of unused space, especially on the crew tables. Models may be a bit closer to each other this year, but we've been doing pretty well not having to pick up or move models during judging unless we discover they are in the wrong place according to the judging sheets do once they are down they shouldn't be touched again. Just make sure that your models are going on the tables they are assigned to, and if you think there is a problem with space, let one of us know, that's why we are there!

I'll probably be in the contest room early more than usual to see how things are going, it should be interesting to see if people are really going to turn up for this challenge.

To paraphrase a young Luke Skywalker, "You worry about bringing the models, I'll worry about the space to put them in!"

With all these entries, is there a means of filling out entry forms beforehand? The last time I was there (a lifetime ago, admittedly), there were a lot of intricate notes on the forms regarding scratchbuild work, customizations, and so on. I figure if I can write up even part of the forms before I go, it'll help reduce the crowd in the registration area.

You can buy the forms the night before (Friday) and fill them out at your leisure; that's what I used to do when I entered. We're working on online entry forms, but that won't be available this year.

I usually pick up the entry forms on Friday night and fill them out in my hotel room.

Ah, that makes sense. Unfortunately, I'm driving into Louisville Saturday morning. Maybe I can bring address/contact info labels to stick to the forms, to avoid writing that info on every form? Would that mess up the filing/judging system?

They're carbonless forms so writing is mandatory unless you want to apply stickers to each layer.

May I recommend a Zebra Z-mulsion pen? Fastest pens I've ever encountered. https://www.jetpens.com/Zebra-Z-Mulsion ... k/pd/11192

I print three labels (one for each part of the entry form) with the model Name, details and the "is it secured to base" check box on 2" x 4" shipping labels (for example, Avery 8163). The labels are a pretty good fit but it helps to trim about a 1/4" of the bottom. You're still going to have to fill in your name, phone number, etc. in the top half of the form.

One of my labels from last year, for example:

Model packing has started.

Just curious, why don't they just say $9 for 10 entries and $9 for up to 10 more entries?

It's $9 EACH for the first 2, then the next 8 are free. Then it starts all over at 11 models.

So, 1 model is $9.
2 are $18.
3-10 models is still $18.
11 models is $27.
12 is $36
13-20 is still $36.
And then it would start again at 21, if anyone actually had that many.
