Contest Challenge

Post by WedgeCharlotte » Tue Jan 17, 2017 2:15 pm

A reminder that this year will be John Davis' last as our contest chair - after decades of hard work he deserves the chance to enjoy the contest at some point!

He's put up a challenge to all the builders out there - we would like to see 800 models on the tables this year.

It's a GIANT task - the record is around 620 I believe - but I hope enough of us will rise to the challenge and bring something extra for the show this year and be part of something cool, as well as making John happy (judges may be another matter LOL)

Now stop reading this and BUILD!!!!!!

GAME ON KIDS! I'm up for doing my part. John's a great guy an deserves this kind of send off as his last year running the contest.

Workin' on it, but I don't know how many I'll be able to bring.

The attorney I hired is opening the estate for my parents next week and I'm gonna be up to my eyeballs in work for the next six months getting everything squared away.

But I'll have time to build, in the evenings, before I become comatose. :P

If every entrant brought one entry more than they did last year, it would go a long way to getting to our goal.

So far I have 2 finished and 3 well on their way. 1 needs decals & weathering, another just decals. #3 needs a base, clear coat and a wash.

Then there's the Breigal & Red Star...

I'll have a Mr. Hankey figure ready to enter. Probably get it done that morning.

I will also be keeping a lookout for any of my kits on the tables. And there might be a super-secret special prize for the best one too. :8)

In the past, I've brought between 4 and 6 models. I went through the collection and looked at older models that were contest worthy. Found 4 that I'm not ashamed of. They won't win anything but will fill up the tables!

Combined with the 6 I'm building/have built that makes a total of 10.

Hey, I'm doing my best!

If I can ever get over this crud and back on track... no way I'm working decals with a hacking cough that's trying to throw my back out.

Neb,

I notice that it's $9 for the first two models and the next eight are free - that's $9 for ten models.

How much for the 11th model? The 12th? The web site doesn't say.

Since you're asking us to bring more models, I need to know how much cash I'll need to bring.

Don't want to speak for Neb...but I think in the past it was 9...then another 9.....then however many

Could be wrong.

Since the contest team was asking for more models this year, I was sorta hoping the fee would be $9 for the first two and then unlimited other models.

George. Take your time. I'll bring as many as I can carry regardless of the entry fee. I was just curious.
