Next contest - Too soon?

Post by J.Grey » Sat Oct 18, 2014 12:30 am

Let me be the first to ask, what next?
I have an idea that might be easier to come up with ideas for. I've been rewatching TNG now that it's on bluray and it struck me, it finished 20 years ago in 1994. How about a competition, 'X-number of years later'? Next year, 2015 it will be 10 years since 'Revenge of the Sith', 15 years since DS9, 15 years after Space 1999 didn't happen, etc.
It should be pretty easy to come up with ideas, Enterprise D refit, next generation Klingon BOP, Millennium Falcon cleaned up and given a lick of paint, an Eagle from Space 2019 (you see what I did there), etc, etc.
I'd enter. Any other /different/better ideas?

I think there is still a bunch of us bucking for "Structures" as the next contest. That would be star bases, space stations, launch pads, etc. That one had an appeal to most fields, SF, real space, anime, MAK, ect. Everybody could get it on it.

Hi Andy

I'm up for Structures, I put this suggestion to One-Zero a few years ago. Back then It was decided that there was to few Structures available in the 'out of the Box' category.

Maybe its different now? we shall have to see, but as said, I'd like to do Structures.

That would be disappointing but if it's what people want then go for it.

I've suggested doing a space stations/bases/structures type contest every
year for as long as I can remember and, each year, it's been shot down for
one reason or another. There are plenty of kits to be had for the OOB crowd
and there are lots of scratchbuilding and dio possibilities as well. So, I say,
why not? This is one I'd be in for.

I'm kinda inspired by Craig Sachs armed apollo capsule

and think an alt-retro-contest might be fun. Think of it as "60's-Punk".

Had a little spare time and did a quick look-see as to what I in stock kits both resin and plastic. Please remember I do not consider this complete and hope folks will add on. I do think that it is enough to silence the "not enough stock " bunch. Figure starting with one of these \, adding a few parts here and there or maybe visiting a hardware store or craft shop the ideas are endless. This looks like fun to me, it might even kick start my DS-89 and Death Star builds :D

Anyway my list:

Round 2
DS-9
K-7
Moonbase Alpha
Pilgrim Explorer

Fantastic Plastic
2001 Station V
Federation B class way station
Federation G-Class station

Pegasus
Mercury 9/ launch pad

Ertl

Death Star ( i know EEWWW)

Glencoe
nuclear Power Space station

Rev/Mono
Mir
Armageddon Russian Space Center

Rev/Germ
International Space Station

Have Fun All!! Maybe this will be the time for this one.

PS

Left out a couple
Rev/Germ
Space Shuttle Launch Complex
And 2 trek Model But cannot remember who had them

Space Dock One (resin)
Space Station Regula One- Turn this one upside down it was Engineering station in STTMP, leave the long tube off and in was Wolf 352.
