Will you be able to get your hands on a digital camera soon? I'd like to see pictures of your progress.

Re: AMT/ERTL USS Enterprise NCC-1701-A Project

I'm going to build the AMT/ERTL USS Enterprise NCC-1701-A. I plan on getting some DLM parts for more accuracy and lighting (first lighted model by the way... I'm gonna get electricuted... ), and drilling out accurate viewports. I also have these photos to go off of (http://www.starshipmodeler.com/t...

You can also try sanding the panels without any putty/filler. I've seen a few projects here that were made smooth without any putty.

BTW, Have you made any progress on this?

Decal paper

Where can I find decal paper for a Laser Jet printer? What is a good brand decal paper to use?

Did you have a Star Trek The Motion Picture version (smoothie) or one of the later kits with the paneling?

Get the Warp Engine grills for the Reliant from DLM. The Enterprise grills DLM sells are direct replacements for the grills on the AMT/ERTL kit. The grills on the AMT/ERTL kit are a bit shorter then they should be.

Thanks for the advice!

Scribing circular lines

I'm looking for a way to scribe the 3 circular lines in the bottom of an AMT 18" Enterprise kit to make it more closely resemble the studio model. These links have pictures of the 3 circular lines on the bottom saucer of the studio model for reference: http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa234/c...

That model is pretty big, so there's a lot of stress on that particular glue joint. Non-toxic glues are pretty weak due to their formulation with a lack of strong solvents. I'd use an epoxy on that joint, clean off all the old glue on the mating surfaces first, then apply it to one side of the mati...
