Not sure If I am allowed to post a link to ebay (not my ebay stuff btw) but I get my lightsheet from a store who sells on ebay from Hong Kong. The sheets are fine and very reasonably priced although the inverters are rather clunky sometimes with rather fragile wiring (the inverters are potted so you...

Re: Applying Dullcote.

Hello, I'm slowly getting to the dullcote stage, and I would like to clarify a few things. 1) Is Testor's dullcote the way to go, or is there something better? 2) Do you apply a thick coat, or just mist it on? Regarding point 2, in the past, when I did it thick, it yellowed in some areas, and when ...

aye - which is why i want one that can be pressure cast - thus the exotherm issues are negated.

Doesnt need to be minutes though, its commercially viable if it can be de-moulded in 2 hours or so.

Need Water-clear UK resin

HI folks,

need some help finding a UK water-clear resin for pressure casting.

Thickness of 5-8mm sections, nothing from atlas polymers such as their 009 as i've tried that and its utter ≠♀§#&@(§.

Needs a de-mould time of around 2 hours max also.

http://www.barrule.com/Workshop/images/info/foams/index.htm search for Foamular in USA or DOW Styrofoam, 'depron', 'rohacell' or 'sintra' are alternatives to "blue foam". A lot of this stuff is banned in California which is why its hard to find there. Oz - again look for Foamular or DOW S...

Painting the StarFury and Badger

My star Fury is ready to paint and my Badger should be ready when i next get to have a bash at the end of February. The Fury has sat there primed for quite a while now as I've got a total mental block on how to paint it; both the scheme and the order to do it in. For some reason i just cant figure o...

Just as way of a little update - use this thing quite literally every day now and casting commercially with it. Response from customers is pretty fabulous.... failure rate in casting 1 item out of about 700 (my fault as i let a bit of resin flash drop into a mould which blocked off a tiny section!)....

I take a piece of each part and roll them out into long thin sausage. Then twist the two sausages together. Then fold over until its a big ball, then roll out into a sauge again, twist, repeat - done.

Have never had a problem.

Well I've added a couple of new valves so now I can run both pots at once: they have a quick-release attachment on the inlet with a ball valve, so once they hit the 30/40psi mark i just shut the valve (sealing in the pressure) and then quick-release the pipe - hitch it to the second pot and off we g...

Fabulous new silicone

Our silicone and resin supplier has sent us some new addition-cure silicone to test: and its bloomin' marverloooous. It hasn't got a name yet, and its not available for a couple of months but: Its a 1:1 mix (by weight or volume) and this stuff is T.H.I.N. I kid ye not it is virtual self-de-gassing. ...

Perspex saga continues..., however after copious use of ptfe tape we're up and running just fine with pressure casting. Works a treat and no leakage at all, had it sat at 30psi for 3 hours, no (noticeable) pressure drop at all. First "test" casting coming out of it in 15 mins or so... some...

Get an olde worlde "Spong" meat grinder if you can find one - they are nigh on indestructible. I mostly use old rtv as a "filler" to bulk out the back of the mould or to fill in large empty spaces and always paint on the new rtv to get all the fine detail, then leave that to set ...

I use an old meat grinder - cast iron - grinds it down into tiny pieces without much effort at all.

Not sure that the modern day plastic ones would be strong enough though... you soon find out that rtv is quite tough.

Arrived today and fits perfectly thanks! Might need to buy a heavier duty compressor as mines a tad slow taking around 5 minutes to get to 30psi, although we're switching to a longer pot-life resin soon anyway... so its time to experiment in that area. The other pot is currently beign re-worked for ...

Cheers - appreciate the help.

I sort of object to paying almost as much for a ball-valve in the UK as the whole pot and extras from harbour freight in the usa - really is daft.
