Haven't used them in a while myself. They work better on a matte surface though.

Heat it up with a hair dryer or bending strip, bend to desired shape, run under cold water.

If you're going to use it, use the Great Stuff for windows/doors, minimal expansion. DAP also makes one that is non-toxic and min. exp. Not everyone carries it though.

I had a similar problem recently with some Tomita decals done on MM paper. First I had to re-coat them as they were breaking up. After spraying them again, I soaked the next piece, but it was sticking around the edges, like I think you're encountering. I just used a small flat putty spatula(from Mic...

I may have to use these techniques for my own need, decals for this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v72/ussarcadia/carrierandE.jpg I have Tomita's decals for the saucer, but need to custom make something for the rest. I'm sure I can trace and scan, but I'm lost at the PSP stage. Any help would be...

You may want to consider using ABS as more things will glue to it. And paint/primer will stick to it.

Well I did find the time to apply the decal today, and it did work. No smudging or the colors rubbing off. Just try to spray the whole sheet, before cutting or the edges may stick to the paper. Good luck.

I recently had a similar problem with Dave Tomita's Ent. D set, with some of the color rubbing off while trying to "adjust" the decal. I'm going to buy some clear fixative and spray another coat on them. I'll let ya know how it turns out. By the way, never has any problems with JTGraphics ...

See this thread: http://www.starshipmodeler.net/cgi-bin/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=37020 Apple Barrel/Folk Art paints are thinner for airbrushing, Delta better for brushing on. I did spray one color on my Jem Hadar BC. It came out OK, but had some congealing in the supply bottle from the heat of the day...

Thanks Matt. I didn't think of that(would dishwashing soap do?). You're welcome Kenny, I would suggest mxing really well and maybe even strain it. Those paints tend to glob up easier than some acrylics. As soon as I spray the next bit I''ll post more pics.

For SW ships I found, somtimes, that appplying the wash over a matte finish gave a "dirtier" result. You might try it, though, on a dummy test model, etc.

The circular saw can work, just turn the blade backwards. Not the best cut, but its fast and it shouldn't splinter. Make sure the cut area is supported.

Same here with an old shaver that just died. Lots of nice hull-type pieces and a mesh to boot. The new shaver even yeilded a protective cover that can be an impulse engine.

Airbrushing Apple Barrel

Anybody have luck airbrushing these paints from Micheal's? Do they thin enough to run through? I've mixed up the appropriate color in these for the Jemmie BC but can't seem to get an exact match in Tamiya.

There are lots of nice bits in the ERTL Speeder Bike kit, tubes, lines, etc. Also a nice kit for small bits is a 1/72 Churchill tank(can't remember manufacturer). I find a lot of nice detail pieces in the local model train shop.

I did get my Miter Rite and so far I love it. Cutting with a razor saw gives a better result than X-acto knife. It has its limitations, but I think it was worth the money.
