Give a light sanding of 600 grit sandpaper. A laquer based paint will probably give you better adhesion. Home Depot carries ABS cement, but I'm not certain if it bonds to styrene. You may want to try a 1 inch strip of styrene on the internal circumference and CA it into place with a 1/2 inch overhan...

If I get what you are saying... I would use ABS plumbing pipe and fish mouth the ends of the columns and glue with ABS cement. Use putty to make a smooth transition. http://www.theforce.net/swtc/Pix/dvd/ep6/zoom3.jpg If you look closely, ILM didn't bother to sand/grind off the markings on the 90 deg...

Yes you can, but glueing the styrene down may prove to be a better bet. Depending on what screws you are using you might get a bit of drift when you actually secure them, causing a bit of a wave to your styrene. My recommedation is to glue first then screw it down after the glue dries, for extra str...

Low cost scanners, copiers and print drivers have inherent problems with scanning 1:1. Even the most expensive ones require calibration to get perfect accuracy. If you want accuracy without having tor resort to getting professional help, you could get free image scaling software on the net or, by tr...

I think you are right on the money for the F-14 and the Super Cobra. It looks to me if Alfred used the F-14 body and glued the intakes on the reverse side of the F-14. It probably wasn't the following model, but something similar. http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Kits/Italeri/1.72/1202_F14Bombc...

I've never tried these myself, but I've read them in Verlinden books and other publications. The most realistic rivets would be made by getting a box of pins sewing pins (not the ones with eyes, just the ones that pin the fabric). Chop off all but a bit of the end of the needle. Now they looks just ...

Thanks to everyone. All are excellent answers that I would never have thought of. Its going to be about a 5-6 mm pipe. I really like the idea of putting in relief cuts in the pipe. A bit of filler and sanding and it looks like it was designed that way. Lighting came as an unfortunate afterthought......

Help on bending styrene tubing
Currently I'm working on a 1/16 scratch/kitbash Y-Wing. I have several diameters of evergreen plastics hollow tubing that I require bent, some with a 1D bend. The problem is is that I'm routing wire through the tube for lighting and power, so I can't use the solid plastruct pipe bends. With the smal...
