Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback! Nice to know that maybe I didn't go overboard. I guess building a model in 24 hours is like rescuing hostages. You have a narrow window of opportunity. The attempt must be well-planned, but you still risk a negative outcome. (Fortunately, in modeling no one ge...

My Failed Entry
I took the day off yesterday started at 9:35 am with the intent to finish it by 9:35 am this morning. So I failed. I got as far as the glosscoat. It is still missing decals and the dulllcoat. I have to get ready for my day, so that's as far as I got. Here are the pics: 9:35 am, Friday, the day start...

STS 1/72 Decals?
Looks like Revell is ignoring my requests to replace the decals on my 1/72 Space Shuttle model. Does anyone know where I could purchase the appropriate decals or a website that has good shots of the mrkings on the real STS?

Sorry guys, I've been MIA for a while. Lichtbringer, I've used Smooth-On before with mixed success. Unfortunately half of my latex tubes dried and the plastic deteriorated. My local hobby store doesn't carry smooth on so I decided to use liquid latex and Aves as the casting material. Out of four pie...

Casting Parts Is Hard
I'm casting a part out of my VF-1 Valk to use on my BSG Viper model. Out of three potential molds, only one worked. My first attempt to use the mold failed miserably when the plastic shrank and crumbled instead of curing. The guys who scratchbuild and/or form garage kit companies always had my respe...

Converting Scales to Metric
From my drafting days, I know that a 1/72 scale is that a model that is 1' tall is 72' in real life. What happens is the only measurements you have of the real subject is in meters? Should I convert the measurements to English and go about it that way or is there an easier method (such as for establ...

Figure as a basic rule of thumb that if there is a red wire and a black wire, then the red wire is positive and the black wire is negative/ground. (If you knew this already, well, no insult was intended.) Yup, I knew that, but that's about the extent of my knowledge. Pat - That sounds like a ...

Converting cig lighter plug to normal power source
I was in AutoZone this morning looking for primer when I encountered these accent lights young punks like to add to their cars. These are perfect for my TOS Galactica restoration since I only need a couple of lights for the landing bays and a few lights to light up the engines and fiberopticts. The ...
