A couple of other things to consider:
1 - Make the duct run as short and as straight as possible, a long or twisty duct will not vent properly.
2 - Make sure you have a source of fresh air to replace the exhausted air, an open window works fine, otherwise the booth will not vent properly.

Thicknesses are in inches unless noted otherwise. .010 is pretty thin stuff, think a couple of sheets of construction paper, for a reference standard copy paper is .03-.04 thick. .040 is about as thick as a US Penny. For hull plating, you'll need it thin enough to take the curve/shape, but thick eno...

I don't know of an places in the Montreal area, I don't live there, I think you may have to dig around a bit. I was trying to find a supplier for lye in Montreal, and one result was about biodiesel production in Montreal, I forgot that lye is used in the refining process. Another source would be soa...

Ferric Chloride is commonly used for etching circuit boards, I've seen it for sale in the past at Radio Shack in the States. Sodium Hydroxide is pretty common, also known as lye or caustic soda. You should be able to find some at a chemical supply place, they might have the Ferric Chloride as well. ...

Looks like there was a rough spot under the gloss paints, and the paint didn't completely fill in the rough spots. Or else something reacted along the way at the edge of the sanded paint/gloss coat, hard to tell Honestly, I'd strip it all off and restart from a nice clean base. If this problem has a...

Spray Enamel Paint 3 oz Flat light Aircraft Grey #1233 Hmmm. None of the Testor paint lists show this color available in a bottle, which is odd since most of their basic color spray paints are available in bottles as well, with the exception of the spray metal flakes. Looking at the can, it may be ...

I'll second what Kylwell said about the differences between the paints, and I think outside of what he mentioned there isn't a difference. I've used both brands for years and both behave pretty much the same, I've shot both brands through the same airbrush and had pretty much the same behavior from ...

Never use lacquer thinner for making a wash, it will eat through just about any paint, primer or clearcoat, including Future. I use it to thin enamels 50:50 or so for airbrushing. For handbrushing I would not use lacquer thinner, dries too fast and could create a gummy mess from the brushing action....

Maybe, I've had problems spraying matt paints over gloss white. One time I ran out of gloss white in a spraycan and used flat to finish up after the gloss dried, the flat cracked when it dried. Are you using a spraycan for the matt red or are you airbrushing it? I've found that you can airbrush matt...

I use Acryl Blue all the time for filling seams, great stuff, a little pricey, but it sands to a very smooth finish. It is a solvent based putty like Squadron/Bondo/Testor, it may have some form of acrylic in it, but it is not a true acrylic putty, it will melt styrene in large quantities and will p...

Is it possible to pour a thin layer of straight resin in the mold, slosh it around a bit until it sets, then pour another layer with the microballoons, slosh it around until it sets? This way you would get an outer layer that you could sand without worrying about the filler interfering with the fini...

I'll second the Bondo putty, but I'll add that if you're planning to scribe a panel line through it (not normally recommended, but sometimes you have too), it doesn't work to well. Bondo red is coarse-grained and the scribing tool pulls the grains out, causing pits in the formally flat surface. I us...
