Here is what I used to push the clear cast to cure. Even the fast set stuff will not fully cure, if you are casting consoles and stuff, so it is better to get the slow set stuff and push the post cast cure, other wise you will have a lot of lost casting due to bubbles. (Fast set jells very fast prev...

Yes you will probably need to vacuum the oomoo, it is so thick post mix pre-cure that you will experience loss of detail on most [sci-fi] modeling applications if you don't vacuum the RTV after you mix it, and use some special pouring techniques to cover your masters. I used the oomoo in the beginni...

Have you tested this wiring scheme? How did the LEDS look. I did the math: 150 ohms times 0.200 Amps and that one resistor is eating 30 volts. you probably calculated the resistor for one LED 150*0.020 mA and the resistor is eating 3 volts. But one resistor in line with all LEDs has to pass the curr...

no there are two buss that run the length of the board, the holes are there for you to insert a wire (from the other side this is the solder side) and then you have to solder the wire down. In any buss system you still need a mechanism to electrically and mechanically tie the wires into the buss. Wi...

I was doing a search online yesterday for bulk sources of fiber too. How weird is that. I've ordered LEDs from a Chinese source before. Strip LED tape and some 'regular LEDs. They list both high quality and low quality LEDs in their vast catalog of LEDs. So you can get whatever suits your applicatio...

Something new form Zog: http://www.kc6sye.com/images/circuits/4060_+_4017_diagram_L.jpg a bit odd. Here's a way to multi-clock a 4017 chip (counts from 0 - 9) with a 4060 chip (self clocking with 12 divide by 2 outputs). Why? the several outputs from the 4060 change at different rates making the sca...

Something like this: http://www.electronickits.com/kit/complete/Automotive/VEK2599.htm But you will need a separate power supply for this unit, 12 volts dc. Most drop in replacements will need a Dc power supply, unless they have the power supply built into them. Search for electronic kits, there are...

http://www.electronickits.com/kit/complete/timers/canck002.htm You will have to figure out how much current the lights are using, this think is limited to 50 mA. Careful review showed that there was possibly one light that flashed behind the fan blade type device that was actually spinning in the filming model. That was one of the several other lights that appear as single light sources. I...

If there is a lot of actions, and you might want some feedback buttons to start and stop them, a micro controller will be you're best bet. there are a few guys here that can do that for you (write the program and loa...

A regular pencil lead will conduct great in the right application. We used construction pencils as spark gaps (the thick flat kind). There is an epoxy glue filled with nickle fillings, note that you have to wait for it to dry. It is none conductive prior to curing. Also super glue is a great insulator, had some issues with gluing surface mount leds down then soldering to them, caused by the glue dripping over the pads. Had to sol...

Maybe that is also why the green led's have a lower mcd rating compared to the red from the same line up (I did a quick search on digikey)? The marked advantage to making sure they are the same current is that you can put them in series rather than in parallel. The take away note, is get red and gre...
