Hi Chas, My pleasure. It makes no difference to me if you bought it direct or through the SSM store - it's still my responsibility to stand behind the product. Regards, Paul Thanks for the tip Paulbo Ièll have a go with the soldering iron and see what comes of it. I purchased these from the SSM stor...

Hi Chas, I'm sorry to hear about your trouble. Without looking at your tape, my guess is that perhaps they were over-flexed and one or more solder connections in the bad sections has broken. This is a very rare problem that sometimes happens. This is only the second time I've run into it in the past...

I'm no expert, but my guess is that short of getting a degree in video electronics, your best bet is to put a non-changing readout info the static cling film. Compositing video on the fly is extremely difficult and I'm not sure it's possible to find something off-the-shelf that will a) fit in your p...

It sounds like your best best is to butcher a cheap video camera and scavenge the CCD and display. You can probably find a used one EBay. I understand that there are several inexpensive and/or free graphics programs that will let you make the reticle design and print to the clear film. Don't know wh...

...Now granted I live in the warmest year round climate in the country, but still... Here's where I've been buying mine lately - it has a little more info about connecting to it. As for providing power, you need an inverter that pumps up the voltage pretty high - as DaveVan says, it'll give you a wicked shock. For most nacelles you'll want strip material like this: http://adafruit.c...

Re: Light strips on 1/537 Reliant
Hello everyone, first post. (been lurking for a bit) I like many others have little to no electronics experience so the Easy LED/Light Strips look like a great solution. My question is how many would you need to say light up the side hull windows, the top dome openings etc? Also if you adhere them ...

As a simple and straight forward system that doesn't include bying anything off the Bay, just put a 9V battery in series with two AAs. 9 + 1.5 + 1.5 = 12 volts. The problem there is the 9V will discharge before the AA's do. You'll basically wind up wasting a lot of the power of those AA's. It's bes...

As a simple and straight forward system that doesn't include bying anything off the Bay, just put a 9V battery in series with two AAs. 9 + 1.5 + 1.5 = 12 volts. You could make a little tray to hold the battery holders. I *think* they should be able to slide right in, though I don't know about the si...

Well drat - I just went to Testors.com and it looks like they aren't selling / supporting it anymore. My personal favorite - I've been using it since version 3 (1992) is CorelDraw. Admittedly it's very expensive if all you'll be doing is decals, but from a graphics design point of view it's an amazi...

Even though the relays were fried, becaused you used them, the control circuitry wasn't fried. Kind of expensive fuses, but it could have been worse. There were fuses (actually circuit breakers) in the circuit, but the relays fried faster than the response time of the breakers! As I say, very cool ...
