I've torn apart quite a few things in my day so I'm used to figuring out how to get things apart that shouldn't be taken apart!

Can you see the shaft inside the chuck? If so clamp the chuck in a vice and use a small punch or similar on the end of the shaft to tap it out of the chuck.

Depends on how big you want, ping pong balls make a nice sturdy and thing dish. Sometimes plastic packages have the right shape to them.

For some fine wire work I've used invisible thread, it's like hair width fishing line but pretty strong. As far as I know it comes in clear and smoke color. The one drawback is you need to roughen up where you want glue to stick since it's so smooth.

If you can find a wooden dowel that would fit snugly inside it would help stop the bending

Topic: Dremel Speed to Avoid Melting?

That small I'd use a pin vice, I do have a variable speed "dremel" but I also used an old sewing machine foot pedal as a speed controller. I just make sure I set the tool up on high, about 3/4 max and then use the pedal for control.

I just printed my first decals a few weeks ago, they went on the Traveling Model Project Team #5's Black Cat. Far as I know they worked fine, I know they were very sharp when I sent them out. I used an inkjet and the paper was what came in the Testors kit. I designed them at 600DPI, saved as psp fil...

I havne't been to that site in ages, I wish I had the money for the 2 circuts I want. The under Lightings effects/Fire and Flame Effects the arc welder and Simulated Fire & Flame would make for great effects on a damaged ship. (ie: Wrecks contest).

bookmarked for further drooling

I used the same thing over a decade ago, duel use of a coffee warmer. Takes only q few seconds with the heat they make to loosen the glue. I always wondered it it got too hot.

I have a bunch of old dental bits, they come in handy since some are quite small. If you don't have a speed controller get one or make one from an old sewing machine speed pedal.

Try drilling multiple small holes along the path of destruction, overlapping and staggering the edge of the damage.

Decal DPI

Ok I have a few small sheets of decal paper, a great printer(Brother MCC-420CN) and a nice program (PSP 9) to work on. So what is the best resolution for designing decals? I plan on using some these for some 1/2500 ships but most wil be larger1/500ish size.

After I read this I relized I had a sewing machine speed controller in my garage sale. It hadn't sold so I cut off the plug and wired it to an outlet. Now I can go at a crawl if I have to. I used it alot today and it worked great! Now to fins an empty switchbox and mount it with an off/ on switch.
