How to Know Pin Marks Are Sanded Down **SMOOTH and FLUSH?**

I sand off pin marks down to what my finger and eyes see as smooth and flush, but when I prime, I see that I didn't sand them down flush enough. So I sand off the primer and the marks again, but I can't tell if they're totally flush or not. Is there a method to know that the pin marks are smooth and...

How to paint vinyl tires?

I heard paint doesn't stick to vinyl tires (such as the ones used on the Batman Tumbler).

Should I prime the tires first?

Someone suggested I just dust them with pastels and leave them unpainted.

Should I use acrylic or enamels?

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

In general, do you leave ypur sci-fi models gloss-coated?

Being military "show-off" models, I was wondering if anyone leaves their sci-fi bombers, fighters, capital ships, etc. (X-Wings, Trek, tanks, vehicles, Gundams, etc) more gloss than flat since some sci-fi models aren't weathered as much in space. I view sci-fi models as glossier than milit...

Painting windows: Black, blue, white, or multi-color?

In regards to painting large capital spacewarship windows, should one paint them white or black and then color them with Photoshop, or paint them as if lit and occupied? Photoshop's great for web photos, but when people view the model in person, having all black windows makes the ship look like a gh...

Problem with some acrylics is that they change color after drying. I noticed this with Gunze. It goes on flat at first. Then a day later, the preshading shows. Then two days later, it turns semi-gloss, bright, and looks wet. Five days later, it's satin, smooth, even, and looks great. :? So sometimes...

Coat over preshading? Preshade again?

I preshaded my model with black and then added the final coat on top. However, I noticed that the coat hid a lot of the black preshading underneath. So should I just preshade with black again and forget another top coat, preshade with black and spray another top coat, OR use a black wash to get into...
