If I can find it, I also have a stand with an applicator bottle that the needle fits into.(vertically, of course)
Should the tip clog, I place it in the bottle and let it soak so the styrene residue melts away.

If I can find that link to that stand, I'll post back. :)

When working with styrene, I swear by Pro-Weld. Like Bob says---it's a little hotter, but it fuses styrene and sets up waaaaay quicker than tube cement. I use it especially when scratch-building and adding strip-detail to Vacu-form kits. (for example) One thing you must get if you want superior resu...

Thanks so much! Considering a lot of Trek type ships get built on these boards, a simple tutorial and schematic is really helpful. Let's face it.... most Trek ships have 2 nacelles, a primary hull, a secondary hull. Allthough yours is the 1/1000 version, hopefully I can adapt the same technique to t...

That's very encouraging---the choice of colors they have is amazing. They're the "Pantone" of light gels! :)

Light Gels

I'm about to start building Rel's 1/650 Sovereign class Starship. I've decided to use White LED's exclusively for the entire ship and use colored light gels for the warp nacelles. I used this filter material waaaaay back in high school when I did lighting for plays in drama club. I went to Roscolux'...

Used a Paasche VL for 10 years and simply thought I sucked at airbrushing.

Then I bought an Iwata, and learned in my first session that you can actually control your airbrush. \:D/

You shoulda seen what I did to that VL...it involved a vise in my garage...

how wet is wet? This is almost necessary when doing vacuformed kits. Especially vacuformed kits! :D You can never have too much water. Plus it keeps the paper from loading up. Also, buy a brand name paper. I've used them all the last 30 years (auto body work) and there is a distinct differen...

Dang, that was a mouthful----how do you chemists remember all them fancy names? (Ter) :D

Kenny, Ter's right---I don't have the product with me right now (at work), but the two ingredients listed on the back said "Marble dust, and, I believe, acrylic polymers". I'll double check when I get home. There's no hurry to sand, unlike speed-cured CA, it doesn't get "hard as diamo...

Ahhhhh, yes.......

apply thick super glue to large seam, add accelerant with tweezers, wait about 3 seconds (with eyes closed while CA gasses off), and sand immediately . :D

I love it.......

Another great seam filler is Liquitex modeling paste. It's relatively thin out of the jar, which makes it great for filling finer seams without getting it everywhere except where you want it. ( a good example is a fine seam on the refit E between the base of the neck and the secondary hull) You simp...

Thag & I plan to be there again; when it comes to bringing our wife(s), that is just so not going to happen. After about an hour in the dealer's room & an hour in the contest area, they'd be ready to head back home. Mrs. Thag is a real engineer, and would start renovating the hotel, whether...
