A most unepected greeblie source

I was at my local "pretentious stuff for the house" store looking for my favourite scented candle that only they stock - Ginger Peach. With the candle I also bought some tea lights in the same scent. The point? The tea lights are not clad in thin metal, but in clear plastic cup that is app...

Looks like it's coming along nicely - always good to see Traveller getting some respect. It's always been my favourite SciFi game - mostly due to how many ways the game can be played. There're always the "bang you're dead" players, but I knew one guy who was so into accounting that the ga...

I just realized  that the Fae craft are in fact my second plate build, so they now have their own Imgur file. That, of course, re-starts the picture number-sequence ...

My company gave us all a snow day, courtesy of Winter Storm Stella - which, where I live, turned out to be mostly rain. :) Never let it said that I looked a gift horse in the mouth - I've had a busy and relaxing day working on the Phaeton and listening to Sweet's Best Hits. :) I mostly just fine-tun...

My reaction was two-fold: 1) Great Work! Looks ... interesting, in a "Look at that! That's cool!", non-Oriental sort of way. :) and 2) Oh, wonderful - now I've gotta buy train models in addition to ship, aircraft, tank, car, and sci-fi models. I'm gonna need a bigger ... cupboard. ;) <grum...

Design Morphing - does it happen to anyone else?

I've noticed something about my scratch builds. I always start with a design concept, and usually even generate a three-view drawing of it. However, once I start building, the design ... changes. These are never "sit-down-and-do-it-all-in-one-go" builds. They usually take months. Even when...

Ignatz just PMd me, and I want to tell everyone (some of) what I told him. IMHO, at this point there's no deadline at all, just the fun of working on the model, so I say let's make it all about having no regrets, yes? :) And, if the Bacqatcha gets to WF this year, great. If not - meh. We still had f...

Glad she made it there in one piece. Be sure to post some photos. This was a lot of fun and something I'd be interested in doing again sometime . . . . once I ...

I'm gonna have to withdraw. I'm up to my eyeballs in alligators, getting the probate estate set up to handle my parents' passing in October and November. More propulsion stuff and working on the main hull.

I'm using broken CD jewel cases for the hull plating - they readily take model glue, and once glued together they're pretty rigid.

I'm perplexed by the question of what to do for landing gear. Some kind of stalky legs, just let it rest on the "drive unit", or something else... You could always borrow the main landing gear from an airliner. Then there's a lot of choice: 1: dispense with the wheels and just use a skid;...

Dollar store champagne "glasses" are an inexpensive source of engine exhaust bells. Party store shot glasses - test-tube type or 'regular'; plastic beach and kids' toys, while not the best plastic, are usable with the right glue. Plastic spoons are great for bulges and the handles can be a...
