Got one, was using it to scribe a Monogram 1/48 F-15 and found out I suck at scribing.

Still useful for other aspects of building.

YES! Mask off clear parts before clear coating! I always wind up missing something and the clear coat leaves frosting on clear parts.

I have the Zvezdva Mig -31 I'm itching to build. Disappointed about the lack of paint guide for the cockpit.

As for the gaps, try the idea with scrap plastic, it works well. You can use garage sale signs for scratch to fill the gaps. Most stores have them for cheap.

SOmetimes using the different paint stripping methods weakens the glue, making it easier to disassemble!

Spraying the model with easy off oven cleaner and sealing in a plastic bag is one mothod.
Using Easy Lift Off solution from Poly S works great for me.

Some hobby shops have a product called Easy Lift Off, ELO. It's by the same company that makes Poly S paiints. It takes paint off. Period!

Thinning acetone

I've been using Zip-Strip acetone for cleaning brushes, some putty work. It softens plastic, so I've been wary about using for cleaning and thinning or thinning applied putty.

Question: Is there a way to thin this stuff so it won't soften plastic?

There are several scribing tools you can buy.
A favorite is to use an exacto.
Scribeing straight lines is a tough one! I'm still working on that!

Good luck!

I typically wait an hour or two to trim the mask and then paint. Now, depending on what you’re masking, this stuff can be difficult to see after it dries. I thing you can do is to take a mechanical pencil and outline the outside you want to mask. That way, the windows will stand out and the pencil...

Warn water and a soft toothbrush! You may want to soak the whole model to!
